Have you ever tried to solve a Rubik’s Cube? If so, then you know how frustrating complex systems can be. After solving one side you find that the other side is even more scrambled, and such and such until you finally give up and peel off the stickers for a ‘quick solve.’
Pay Per Click Advertising can be just like a Rubik’s Cube. With Ad Groups, keyword research, the bidding process, dimensions, and the new Enhanced Adwords, there is a lot to take in and it can be overwhelming.
If you are a business owner and want to get more traffic to your site, Adwords is a great enhancer to any online marketing campaign. So how can you get on your way and get started today? Well, in truth, the fastest way about it, is to outsource it to a PPC expert or an SEO company.
However, if you are more of a hands-on person or if this is something you would like to do in the future, the best place to start would be to get your Google Adwords Certification. To help you prepare for this, start by going to the GCP Help dashboard and looking into the fundamentals. Here they will guide you through the basics of PPC to help you get a handle on what it is all about.
After you have gone through all of the GCP Help and are feeling confident then take a few practice exams. Here are a couple of sites that you can try:
There are many others, but these are a great start!
The Dreaded Test
After all your preparation, the next step is to take the tests! That’s right—tests. There are two tests you have to pass in order to become Google Adwords Certified. The first is a fundamental test and the second is an advance test. They are both $50 and are administered online.
Make sure to study well because you will need an 85% to pass the Google Advertising Fundamentals Exam and an 80% to pass the Search Advertising Advanced Exam.
Know that you are capable of passing the test and that many do every year! So buckle down and spend the time taking notes and reading up on Adwords. (Some good articles to read are: Pay-Per-Click Advertising What Works and What Doesn’t, Basic PPC Optimization Practices, PPC How to Negative Keywords)
