Whether you are a prolific writer or an SEO guru, there are some tricks you should have up your sleeves to make the most of your SEO content. With Google changing things up all the time, you have to stay on your toes by keeping yourself up-to-date. Here are 5 ways to optimize your SEO copywriting.

Longer is bettermedium_12415309154

Sure, your high school teacher was always cutting stuff out of your paper and trying to shorten your writing. You can forget what your teacher said (you know she was just trying to save herself time by cutting down on your behemoth paper anyway). All of that being said, adding lots of fluff is not going to give you the results you want. The idea is to be thorough and to go into greater depth on topics.

Many Successful blogs are around 1,000-1,500 words in length, so it may take a little more time than you are used to.

Optimizing Format

Formatting is almost as important as the content itself.  The best place to start is at the top! Titles will be the first thing that readers see and should be as interesting as possible. It’s not a time to keyword stuff! Your focus should be on making the title as interesting as possible for readers and then finding a way to have the keywords in there. Here are some additional Formatting tips:

  • Make sure you are using H1s and H2s for titles and subtitles
  • Use reader-friendly font
  • Direct attention with bold and italics

Simplify your Writingmedium_2938675249

While we talked about making your content longer, it shouldn’t be your next Moby Dick Novel. People will start feeling like you’ve written a novel if you don’t break up the content and start using good subtitles. Properly formatted paragraphs will make the content much less intimidating and will actually make your writing much more skimmable and memorable as well. Another way to break things up and simplify your writing is by adding bullet points and number lists.

Increase Sharability

If you wouldn’t promote it yourself, it probably isn’t worth sharing. It’s important to create quality content that is detailed and has some of these key characteristics:

  • Contains credible information (sourcing is always a plus)
  • Something that could easily be seen on social media
  • The topic is relevant to the target audience

It may take an extra 30 minutes of your time, but when you see the flawless finished product that is being shared, you will thank yourself for taking the time.

Putting it all together

When you keep all of these tips in mind when you are crafting quality content, not only will it be easier to read, but Google will notice it too. This is especially true if the readers are sharing it and anxiously awaiting your next masterpiece, so start writing quality content today!
