Best Practices for Content Marketing

Sharing is caring!

The internet has become a fast-spreading phenomenon around the world.  In 2019, around 44.8 percent of the world’s population is considered to be avid internet users.  Computers can be found in homes of people anywhere from Detroit, Michigan to Paris, France. With almost everyone in the world having access to the world wide web, there are tons of opportunities for people and businesses to advertise and create content.  The only question is, how can I reach these people and tell them about my business?

The answer? Content marketing.  Content marketing allows you to create and share different types of material online such as videos, blogs, and social media posts. Content marketing can help you create and keep loyal customers who keep coming back to your website for more. So your next question probably is, what are the best and most effective ways to do content marketing?

Here is a list of techniques and practices for the best content marketing results.

#1. Post on Social Media

Just about everyone uses some sort of social media platform. In fact, it is predicted that in the year 2019 that there will be more than 111 million Instagram accounts, 2.32 billion active monthly users on Facebook and 126 million daily users on Twitter.  Sounds like you’re gonna have a big audience! By using social media as a content marketing platform, you’ll have the option to share your content with users/followers organically or pay to have targeted ads reach a more specific audience. Whichever path you decide to follow, your opportunity for growth in the social media world is basically unlimited. However, when creating your posts, make sure to follow these four easy rules; Educate, Entertain, Convince and Challenge your audience. Make sure that your posts are educational. Share a quick tip or fact about your business or product that many people don’t know, but will convince them to buy what you have to offer. Entertain your audience. Some of the most successful ads and companies are due to the silly ads that back them up. Think of Squatty Potty, or Old Spice ads. They seem downright silly, but they are some of the most successful companies in their industry.

Next, be convincing. One of the most important aspects of content marketing is creating ads that can convince your audience that not only will they want your product or service, but that they need it! If you’re successful at convincing your audience, they will convert into sales. And last but not least, be challenging.  Challenge yourself to hit a certain number of followers, clicks, likes or shares each month. The more you challenge yourself or other members on your team, the better your content will become and the more success you will see.

#2 Keep on blogging, blogging, blogging

I know it seems silly, but blogging isn’t only for moms.  Set up a page on your website that is specifically for blog posts. Writing and posting blogs, opens the door for many possible opportunities for growth and recognition.  Your blog posts can attract people who might not have even been looking for your company or product but are led to your page because of the blog. You’ll also have the opportunity to put in keywords strategically that help you get more traffic on your page. It also gives you the opportunity to ask and give links to other people! By doing this, your page will be ranked higher on Google, which means, more page visitors and googles searches!

#3  Keep the posts coming!

One of the most important things you can do when content marketing is to keep your content up to date and to keep on posting regularly! When posting your content, make sure that the date is visible for users to see.  Your users will want to know that you are consistently and regularly adding to your website or blog. Make sure that you schedule a time about a year after your post to go back and makes the edits and changes necessary to keep your content up to date. Also, be sure to keep it consistent.  Make sure your posts are following the same outline and have the same voice each time. That consistency will help users feel comfortable and familiar with your product and page. You’ll want a viewer to read your post and know, “This is from the same company!” each time.
