Experience

Coby entered the marketing world in a way that can only be described as “legendary serendipity.” While studying engineering at the University of Utah, he ditched a partial differential equations class for a round of golf.

He was paired with two leaders from DSW Partners, the agency behind the iconic Intel Inside campaign, who saw something in him. One year and one college major change later, Coby graduated and flew to San Francisco to join the world’s largest agency in its new business development department.

Since then, he’s worked with more than 350 clients across 10–15 industries, including everything from tech giants to scrappy startups. He’s held roles such as new business coordinator, account executive, channel marketing manager, marketing director, account supervisor, agency partner, founder and director of brand strategy, VP of global brands, fCMO, and now, Big Leap’s VP of marketing.

A lifelong learner and observer of human nature, he approaches marketing like an ongoing experiment in how people think, feel, and decide. He attributes success in marketing leadership to curiosity, storytelling, and the willingness to fail—a lot.

At Big Leap, Coby enjoys collaborating with the management team to merge creative brand storytelling with performance-driven execution at scale, something the industry has yet to fully crack.

In his free time, Coby can be found playing outside, lifting with his CrossFit community, designing and building furniture, or navigating life with his three rambunctious kids. And if there’s karaoke nearby, he’s already signed up. Just don’t expect pitch accuracy.

Education

Coby holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Utah.
