A client in the rehab & recovery space came to us expressing dissatisfaction with a different digital marketing agency. Our client didn’t feel the other agency was transparent enough, and the client was uncomfortable with some of that agency’s “questionable” tactical recommendations.

  • Increase the number of ranking keywords and visibility in search.
  • Rank higher in search for specific substance abuse rehabilitation keywords.
  • Increase organic traffic and leads to their website to complete form fills and increase call volumes.

We were quite successful at hitting these targets for their national brand. But we found a gap in their original goals and strategy.

Location-Focused Tactics

Our client had been aggressively acquiring more locations around the U.S., but they weren’t receiving substantial site traffic or calls. So Big Leap proposed shifting tactics from a national focus to a location focus.

The goal of this shift was to increase keyword performance rankings and organic traffic for their optimized locations.

Here are the four location-focused tactics we successfully employed:

  1. Analyze location pages: We provided a template for all new locations coming online so they could start strong right after launch.
  2. Audit location business online presence: We found missed opportunities and ensured consistent directory listings.
  3. Update Google My Business pages: We made specific recommendations for how to do this quickly and effectively.
  4. Create a compelling educational infographic: We used content that explained types of drugs, short- and long-term effects and/or symptoms of using or abusing drugs, and helpful resources to drive backlinks and increase keyword rankings for targeted drug terms.

By shifting focus from a national brand to individual locations, Big Leap was able to meet the client’s goals.

Ranked for 11,161 keywords:

  • 1,354 of those keywords are ranked on Google’s first page.
  • Target keyword rankings increased a net total of 2,073 positions.
  • Drug infographic and content keywords increased a net total of 88 positions.
