LifeStar Therapy, a subsidiary of LifeStar Network, offers pornography and sexual addiction counseling to individuals and their families. Their expert services give participants the resources, support, and structure they need to experience successful recovery. We worked with LifeStar to create a targeted online PR campaign that would not only spread awareness of their mission and company, but also build highly relevant links and drive referral traffic.
We started our PR based campaign by researching media outlets that we thought might be a good fit for their target audience and their brand’s message. LifeStar is based out of Salt Lake City, UT, so we started our outreach with the area’s most popular news source—KSL.com. We quickly built a relationship with a KSL writer who had written on pornography and sexual addiction.
From that relationship, we were able to help our client become a contributor for FamilyShare.com, a family-oriented news site with over 100 million social media follows across their various platforms. After contributing to FamilyShare.com, we landed a placement with our number one target placement, Fight the New Drug, a nonprofit organization focused on spreading awareness of the harmful effects of pornography.
Overall, the campaign was a big success for LifeStar. As a whole, we were able to contribute to a total of seven articles across three highly-targeted media platforms. In addition to greatly improving LifeStar’s brand exposure, these placements included high-DA links that helped to boost LifeStar’s rankings and improve organic traffic. Here are some highlights from the campaign:

- 1900+ referral sessions
- 265% increase in referring traffic (YOY)
Additionally, the referral traffic from these articles caused a few direct conversions by way of form fill outs and eBook downloads, with one article’s traffic reaching an unprecedented 9% conversion rate.
