Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last seven years, you have no doubt
browsed through the seemingly endless supply of videos which have been uploaded to YouTube by millions of amateur and professional users. And if you haven’t, go back and live under your rock.
YouTube is the second largest search engine in existence. According to Wikipedia, “The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 Technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video
content, including movie clips, TV clips, and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging and short original videos.”
In 2010 it was reported that YouTube had over two billion videos viewed a day.
The most recent videos garnering attention from millions of viewers are clips from Bad Lip Reading, a YouTube channel run by an anonymous individual. He (or she–I must remember to be inclusive) is so “mysteriously mysterious.” Not to mention hilariously hilarious.
Earlier today I watched a Bad Lip Reading of Gotye’s “Somebody I Used To Know” entitled “Kicked Your Monkey.” I definitely recommend it. However, the biggest hit has been the reading of Twilight. Edward and Bella have accrued nearly 10 million hits since September 4th.
