4 important ways to embed a link

Most of the people who read blogs like this are, for the most part, pretty tech savvy. Because of that, we sometimes forget to go over the basics. We talk about things like placing links, but we don’t always go into great detail into how to actually do it. I will show you the top 4 most important ways to embed a link.

This is for all of the beginners, novices and dummies out there.

  1. HTML:

It’s OK if you are a little bit scared right now, html code is an intimidating thing. Don’t worry though, we are going to take this one step at a time. Before you start, you need two things, your URL and anchor text

  1. Your URL is your websites address that usually goes something like this: http://www.yourwebsite.com/
  2. Your anchor text is the text that you want people to click on for people to get to your website. Example: Click here

Now that you have that, I will now show you how to insert those two things into a complete line of html code.

<a href=”http://www.yourwebsite.com”>Click Here</a>

Replace the website name and the “Click here” with your website URL and anchor text.

This is what a completed link looks like:

  1. Word:

In Microsoft Word, making links is pretty simple. In fact if you type your URL into word, it automatically makes it a link.

But what if you want to choose your own anchor text ? I thought you would never ask. Here is how you do it.

Type what you want people to read, then select the characters that you want to become a link. After selecting them, right click and select “hyperlink” from the dropdown menu.

When you do this, a window should pop up with a lot of things that are not important right now.

The only thing that matters is the text box labeled “Address” put your website address(URL) into this box.

Click OK, and just like that, you have a beautiful link!

  1. WordPress:

It is very important to know how to know how to create links on WordPress because you are probably using it for your website… if not, I am sorry.

WordPress makes it very easy to make links in. Just highlight the text and click the link button in the text editor.

When you click the link button, a box will pop up directing you what to do.

After you enter your URL in the box, click “Add Link” and just like that, you have a link!

  1. CommentLuv:

CommentLuv is super easy to drop a link in, just put your URL in the “website” box and you have a link, just make sure to make the comment relevant… DON’T BE A ROBOT!

A lot of the commenting programs accept html code. That means that if you want to insert a link to your webpage within the comment, you can use the code <a href=””></a> like I showed you at the beginning of this post.
